What Has Changed in My Life in 5 Years (2021–2025)

In 2021, I was in Kyengera Central, sharing a congested home with ten other people, juggling shifts, noise, and narrow chances at personal reflection. Fast forward to 2025, and I wake up in Nabaziza, in a place I proudly call my own, living each day with intention, clarity, and peace.

If someone asked me, “What has changed in your life in 5 years (2021–2025)?” the answer wouldn’t just be about addresses or improved skills—it would be about how I became myself.

Growth isn’t always loud. Sometimes it whispers in the form of consistency, self-respect, and solitude.

From Chaos to Calm: My Living Situation Transformed

In 2021, my days revolved around shared spaces. Living in a crowded house meant no privacy, constant background noise, and moments where personal dreams felt buried under communal living.

But even then, I remember those YouTube nights—learning about digital marketing, affiliate income, and how people across the globe were making a living online. Those late evenings were like secret promises to myself.

Today in 2025, I live alone. My mornings begin with cleaning—a grounding ritual. Then I dive into client projects on my computer, cook lunch, strategize my goals, and end my evenings with a comforting movie. The structure isn’t rigid—it’s liberating.

Perhaps one of the most transformative inner battles has been with self-doubt.

There was a time when I second-guessed everything. Am I good enough? Will I be taken seriously? I hesitated to speak up, fearing judgment.

But in this half-decade, I’ve come to understand something fundamental: confidence isn’t the absence of fear—it’s moving forward despite it. I now prioritize my mental well-being over public opinion, embracing failure as a necessary companion of growth.

My Personal Spiritual Evolution

I was raised in a deeply religious environment. But over time, I began to question doctrines that fed fear and control.

Today, I still believe in a higher power—but one that understands me without the need for intermediaries. I’ve embraced a more spiritual but not religious approach.

This has brought me peace. I no longer live in fear of divine punishment. I strive to live authentically, kindly, and purposefully, knowing that morality doesn’t always require religion.

Love, Lessons, and Letting Go

Love wasn’t even on the radar for me in 2021, My focus was survival and self-betterment.

Between 2023 and 2024, though, two significant relationships shaped my emotional growth:

  • The first one in 2023 was deep, emotional, and unforgettable. Even though it ended, it left behind a version of myself that knew how to love and be loved.
  • The second in 2024 was a wake-up call. It reminded me that emotional health should never be sacrificed for companionship.

Now in 2025, I’m single by choice—not by circumstance. I’m focused on healing, learning, and preparing to love better when the right moment arrives.

Redefining Family Bonds

My grandmother continues to be my rock. Her unwavering support has kept me grounded.

With my father, things are more distant but respectful. We may not talk often, but there’s mutual understanding. These contrasting dynamics have taught me that family isn’t just blood—it’s connection, intention, and care.

From Curiosity to Competence: My Digital Skillset

In 2021, I had basic design skills. Canva was a go-to, and Photoshop felt intimidating.

Now in 2025, I’ve grown into a multi-skilled digital creator. Thanks to platforms like Coursera, Skillshare, and endless YouTube tutorials, I can now:

  • Design websites
  • Manage social media professionally
  • Create brand identities
  • Run digital ad campaigns

The internet became my university, and I’m still a student—eager as ever.

The Books That Changed My Mindset

Reading has shaped the architecture of my thoughts. Some books that radically changed me include:

1. Believe It to Achieve It – Brian Tracy & Christina Stein

Encouraged me to replace self-doubt with clarity, and trust the journey.

2. Atomic Habits – James Clear

Introduced me to tiny changes that lead to massive transformation. The Four Laws of Behavior Change became my daily mantra.

3. As a Man Thinketh – James Allen

Taught me the power of intentional thought and how it manifests in reality.

4. Designing the Mind – Ryan A. Bush

Helped me learn how to reprogram my thinking to align with my purpose.

These books weren’t just read—they were lived.

My Changing Views on Life

Religion:
I no longer tie morality to religion. You can be a good person without fear-based rituals.

Relationships:
Traditional marriages? They don’t work for everyone. Freedom and honesty are my new relationship cornerstones.

Education:
Formal education has value, but practical, skill-based learning wins every time. We need to equip ourselves with tools that work in real life—not just in theory.

So, What Has Changed in My Life in 5 Years (2021–2025)?

Almost everything—and yet, the core of who I am remains the same: a dreamer, a fighter, a student of life.

The past five years taught me:

  • Growth is non-linear
  • Peace is a product of intention
  • Success isn’t defined by others—it’s deeply personal

I’ve outgrown rooms I once begged to enter. And I’ve built new ones—designed by experience, held up by confidence, and lit by hope.

Looking Ahead

If 2021 was the beginning of awakening, 2025 is the continuation of becoming. And I’m not done yet.

I carry forward all the lessons, scars, and victories. The next five years? I welcome them with open arms—and a clearer sense of self than ever before.
